Parent Guidance & Family Therapy
As a child psychologist trained in family therapy and parent interventions, I have extensive expertise in working with parents and families in navigating difficult emotions, behavioral challenges, substance use, and many modern challenges facing our youth.
Parent Guidance
I provide parent guidance to anyone in a parenting role with a child, teenager, or young adult. Sessions do not include the child, but may include them in later sessions as indicated. Parent guidance is not family therapy, it is a more directive, skills training approach to specific target behaviors and challenges following therapy approaches such as CRAFT and Barkely and Green’s Parent Training.
I also have specific experience in supporting parents navigate issues around climate change; how to talk to children about this topic, how to build resilience and coping in this landscape of uncertainty.
Family Therapy
Family therapy would include all relevant family members including the child and others as indicated. These details can be discussed during the initial meeting. I typically incorporate Brief Strategic Family Therapy approaches into my work to improve family relationships, communication, boundaries, and improve conflict resolution.

Parent guidance or Family therapy sessions start with a conversation called an “initial assessment” about the challenges being faced. This is done through a series of questions and folks involved may also be asked to complete some questionnaires to help me better understand the situation.
Parent guidance sessions would be parents only. Family sessions would include all relevant parties involved.
At the end of this meeting, feedback is then provided regarding the circumstances, and a plan is developed collaboratively as to what type of support might be helpful.
Sessions maybe conducted weekly or less frequently depending on needs and circumstances.

I do not accept insurance at this time, and thus sessions will be billed to you and considered out-of-network for insurance purposes. You would be responsible for payment in full; however, I can provide you with an invoice to submit to your insurance company for any reimbursement you are eligible for. Some or all of the costs may be covered. It is recommended that you contact your insurance to determine any coverage eligibility.
Please reach out to me regarding pricing.
